Starting the day with a sound nutritional foundation is a proven key to academic performance. We use organic products wherever possible, only ever use free range eggs and have fresh bread provided daily. Breakfast would be a substantial nutritionally balanced low energy releasing meal, like porridge sweetened with natural sweeteners or homemade nut free granola. We have alternative cereals available. Juice’s are fresh and our breakfast menu will also include eggs and homemade pancakes on certain mornings.
FizzBug’s Wake-up & Shake-up
Prior to the school day starting, we will encourage all the children to take part in our 10 minutes shake up! These 10-minute bursts of fun, with their favourite tunes being played, will really get the children mentally active and positive to start the day.
A number of other activities will be provided so that all children’s needs and enjoyment are catered for, all of which would be fun and fully inclusive.
Why wake-up & shake-up?
• Exercise is a great way to kick start the day and has a direct result on brain function.
• Exercising in the morning releases endorphins throughout the body, making the children feel energised and receptive towards the learning process.
• Exercising early also increases a child’s productivity throughout the day and boosts their mental clarity for up to 10 hours.
• Regular exercise improves memory and problem-solving ability.
• There are plenty of good reasons to be physically active and starting early will create good habits ingrained for life.
Children will be taken to their classroom by a member of staff, in time for the start of the school day.
After School Club
Pupils are firstly offered a drink and homemade healthy afternoon snack. There would be both sweet and savoury options available.
Below are then the types of activities we make available to all pupils attending the after school club. Clubs would be held on different days but a variety of would be available for the children to choose from.
‘Diggin it’ gardening club
The Earth Project group
Music lessons (there will be an additional charge to parents for individual lessons)
Foreign language school
Arts & Crafts
Soft Play (for the younger children)
Variety of sports activities
Non-skilled sports activities
As an example for our cookery club, Friday night is Pizza night! At our Friday ASC ‘Ready Steady Cook Pizza night’, the children make their own Pizza’s from scratch and then eat them for their supper. As well as all the other plans for the club, we are really excited about starting up regular dance and football clubs within the ASC.
Children will be provided with a two-course meal. The ingredients used will be locally and responsibly sourced, free range and organic wherever possible. We will include a meat free day each week and a vegetarian/vegan option daily. We will also take into account any other individual dietary requirements. Each meal will include a healthy balanced combination of protein and carbohydrates. Parents will be given the menu for the week with 2 options per day. They will be required to make their menu choices for the week the week prior.
